Best Tires for Ford F-250 Super Duty

The Ford F-250 Super Duty is a class 2 heavy-duty truck — not the same vehicle as an F-150. Its payload and towing ratings require Load Range E tires (10-ply equivalent) as the minimum for any towing or hauling use. Putting P-metric or light-duty LT tires on an F-250 used for its intended purpose is a structural and safety issue.

Ford F-250 tire sizes

2017-current F-250: LT275/65R18 (XL, XLT), LT275/70R18 (XL regular cab), LT275/65R20 (Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum), LT275/65R18 (Power Stroke diesel).

Most F-250 trims use LT275/65R18 or LT275/65R20 depending on wheel size.

All F-250 replacement tires must be Load Range E (10-ply) minimum for towing applications.

Best tires — highway/towing (LT275/65R18)

Michelin Defender LTX M/S in LT275/65R18 Load Range E: the best all-season highway/towing tire for F-250 owners who use their trucks for work, towing, and daily driving. Long tread life, excellent highway stability with load.

Goodyear Wrangler AT Adventure with Kevlar in LT275/65R18: for F-250 owners who need both highway towing capability and occasional off-road use. Tougher sidewall (Kevlar reinforcement) for rock and debris resistance.

BF Goodrich KO2 in LT275/65R18: for F-250 owners who regularly go off-road — proven off-road capability, Load Range E available, strong on-highway stability.

Best tires — Tremor and off-road trims

The F-250 Tremor comes with LT275/65R18 from factory with an aggressive all-terrain profile. BF Goodrich KO2 and Falken Wildpeak AT4W are both excellent Tremor upgrades.

For F-250 owners running 35-inch tires (LT315/70R17): BF Goodrich KO2 and Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT are the most popular choices in this size for work-capable off-road use.

Frequently asked

How much do Ford F-250 tires cost?

LT275/65R18 Load Range E: $175–260 per tire. LT275/65R20 Load Range E: $185–275 per tire. A set of four installed (LT275/65R18): $700–1,040. HD trucks carry a significant premium over light-duty sizes.

Do I need Load Range E tires on my F-250?

For any towing or payload use — yes. F-250 ratings require Load Range E tires to support the truck's payload and towing capacity at the inflation pressures required. Running Load Range C or D tires on a loaded F-250 is under-rated for the axle load and can cause overheating and failure. For a strictly unloaded, untowing daily driver — technically E-rated is still strongly recommended for appropriate load management.
