Short version: an LLM (Claude Code), under our direction, classified owner replies to negative Google reviews across 68 West Georgia auto shops for our original study. Across that whole corpus, only36% of negative reviews (249 of 692) got any reply at all — the other 64% got none — and of the replies that did come,32.9% (82 of 249) dispute the customer's account or defend the shop instead of addressing it. Below are three shops — in three different counties — with real reply rates well above their county average, and, in each case, one actual reply worth reading in full: a shop acknowledging the specific complaint instead of arguing with it. We're not claiming these shops never miss — only that this reply, this time, got it right, and that's worth saying plainly.

One correction worth naming here: each of the three shops above had its reply rate re-pulled from its complete public Google review history on August 12, 2026, so the counts you see are exact rather than drawn from the study's 100-review-per-shop sample. All three moved when we did that. The county and regional averages they're measured against still come from that sample.

Everything below is public: the same Google review history and reply text anyone can look up on Maps. We're pointing it out because it's genuinely uncommon in this data, not because anyone requested it.
Why these three shops and not others?
An LLM (Claude Code), under our direction, classified every owner reply to a negative Google review across 68 West Georgia auto shops for our original study. These three had real, meaningful sample sizes (not one lucky reply out of two), reply rates well above their own county's average, and — in the replies quoted above — answered the specific thing the customer complained about instead of arguing with it. We're not claiming every reply any of them writes is composed from scratch; plenty of good replies start from a house template, and a templated reply can still deal with the specifics, which is exactly what these do. A shop not appearing here isn't a knock on it — plenty of shops we didn't feature still reply more than the regional average.
